How to Check Sassa Status? | SRD Status Check Online

The applicants once submit their SRD application now the verification process will begin by the SASSA. This is called SASSA VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION PROCESS.

What is SRD?

Everything you need to know about the SASSA status check for the SRD grant, including the payments dates when it can be collected. The R350 Social Relief Grant Payment schedule is announced each month by the South African Social Security Agency – SASSA. This is the organisation that has been put in charge of distributing and providing government assistance for the special Covid-19 Social Relief benefit. Payment via Bank Account

Receiving payments via your bank account is probably the most convenient payment method and fastest way to receive the grant, it also means you can avoid queuing in person at the Post Office. The amounts for each month will be paid into the bank account of the beneficiary as per the grant application. Please note that the bank details or cellular phone number provided for payment MUST be registered in the name of the approved applicant used in the Covid-19 R350 grant application process to make sure that payment goes to the correct recipients.

What is my SASSA Status is Pending?

Unfortunately, for a lot of people, when they check sassa status online it is only showing as “pending” and they are unable to receive the R350. The official SASSA recently released the below message on 1st June 2022
Payments for the new cycle of the special COVID-19 SRD grant (from April 2022) will be paid as from mid-June 2022.
SASSA will continue clearing outstanding payments from the previous cycle as and when the bank details are confirmed. The payments will not be done together, but will be done month by month. More than one payment may be made in a month, but no one will receive double payments in amount. SASSA will do these multiple payments in a month until the backlog is finalized, where after monthly payments will resume.

There has recently been announcements of delays in the processing of reconsideration requests due to the longer time periods in communicating with the banks and financial institutions. President Cyril Ramaphosa has stated that the Covid-19 R350 government grant and payment of grants will be extended for the next 12 months till March 2023. This was announced during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Cape Town on February 10. It is hoped the Relief of Distress Grant will continue to help those people that need it most in South Africa. The grant should be seen as a temporary grant and an opportunity to help those find new career options.

  • Not receiving a stipend from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme and other financial aid;
  • Not receiving any other government COVID-19 response support;

  • People’s circumstances may have changed over time;
  • In order to confirm clients’ personal details, assess their income and financial status;
  • Applicants need to accept the declaration and consent, which has been strengthened to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) which came to effect on 21 July 2021;
  • In order to access or to have the application reconsidered for the Social Relief of Distress Grant, an applicant must grant consent for SASSA to verify his or her identity, residency, income or social security benefits with any other institution deemed necessary by SASSA.
